Key points:
Third hand high: When we are defender and 3rd to play to a trick it is normally right to play high - aiming to win a trick for our side or to force out a higher card from the 4th hand.
When playing 'third hand high' we play the lowest card that 'will do the job'.
When defenders follow suit, we play the lower/lowest of equal cards. This tells partner we don’t have the card below but says nothing about the card above.

Key points:
When partner leads, take time to work out what the opening lead can tell us about the missing cards in the suit.
If we get the lead later in the play it is usually good to lead a card of the same suit as partner's opening lead.
