HELP AND FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1) Make sure your speakers are switched on and working with other audio sources. If they are working but you still don't hear the audio comments it might be you need Flash Player (or need to update Flash Player).
2) Click here to check if you have the latest Flash Player. If you already have the latest Flash Player you will see message 'Installation Complete'. If not, follow the instructions to download the latest Flash Player.
3) If you find your Flash Player is up to date but still no audio, test whether you are receiving audio from other websites. Test this by going to www.youtube.com and click on any video. If there is still no audio it means you need to change the audio setting on your PC.
No Fear Bridge uses the Acol bidding system, which is standard for the UK. This system used Weak No Trump, 4 card majors.
The No Fear Bridge bidding tuition and quizzes will therefore not match your system, however you may enjoy playing the Declarer and Defence Hands as the bidding is pre-determined for these so the focus is mainly on the play of the cards.
Why not take the two week free trial and have a look round.
No Fear Bridge uses the Acol bidding system, which is standard for the UK.
Some aspects of the Acol system have more than one reasonable interpretation. No Fear Bridge takes account of the following:
1. The "Standard English" method, developed by the EBU since about 2000.
2. Recommendations from current bridge writers.
3. Preferences of the No Fear Bridge management, especially to avoid complications for beginners and improvers.
Click the link 'Open Comments in A New Window'.
Resize both the hands window and the comments window so they line up next to each other. It is important the the windows don't overlap too much otherwise the comments window may disappear behind the hands window. You can now read the comments while you are replaying the hand.
Note. If you leave the comments window open at the end of the hand, then when you open the comments for the next hand the comments will load into the same window.
Click a card from your hand or dummy when it's your turn to play. Click the 'Play' when it's the defender's turn to play (i.e. you lost the trick).
There is a new 'easy' and 'harder' Hand of the Day each day. From time to time we add batches of past 'Hands of the Day' to the Play Hands menu. There are currently over 180 hands available to play any time from the Play Hands menu, plus 14 hands from 'This Weeks Hands' option.
The 'Play' button only appears when it is the defender's turn to lead. When you win a trick and it's your turn to lead to the next trick, just click on a card to continue playing.
This can occur when you are playing the hand from the 'Play Hands' menu.
There is a number to the right of the topic description e.g. Finessing (9). The 'Next' button goes to the next hand in this topic, so if there is only one hand for the topic e.g. Beginners (1) the next button just repeats the hand as there are no more to show for this topic.
Use the 'Random' selection option to get a bigger range of hands (and without the clue of knowing what the topic is!) or click the 'Play Hands' button at the top of page again and select another topic from the list.
The animation of the defenders cards relies on JavaScript (which is normally set on by default in browsers). Check your browser settings. You need to enable JavaScript again in your browser.
If you are using Internet Explorer Browser: check the Text Size setting. From the Brower menu bar select 'View' then 'Text Size' and make sure the text size is set to 'Medium'.
There are two reasons why this may happen.
It could be your browser Zoom settings. From the Brower menu bar select 'View' then 'Zoom'. This displays a further list of options. Try 'Zoom Out' or 'Reset' or 100%.
If it is not the Zoom setting and you are using Internet Explorer Browser: check the Text Size setting. From the Brower menu bar select 'View' then 'Text Size' and make sure the text size is set to 'Normal'.
This 'quirk' has been reported occasionally with earlier versions of Internet Explorer broswer.
There are two possible solutions
1) Upgrade to a more recent version of Internet Explorer or
2) Use another browser for No Fear Bridge such as Firefox or Google Chrome.
It is very easy to download and install a new browser and there is no problem having both Internet Explorer and another browser running on a computer.

Once you have previously scored a 10 out of 10 in the beginner's quiz your name will no longer appear on the beginner's quiz leaderboard. Time to move up to the main weekly quiz!
The weekly leads challenge needs to be completed at the first attempt.
If you even just open the leads quiz but don't continue and then go back to it later it doesn't record your score on the leader board.
The first time you attempt the quiz you get a message at the beginning "Your score will be recorded on leaderboard after question 10."
If you have previously opened the quiz the message will instead say "Your score will be not be recorded on leaderboard as you have previously started or completed this week's challenge. First attempt was not completed."
Next time you do the it, check the message at the start of the quiz. If your score still isn't recorded as expected please let us know.

Login at www.nofearbridge.co.uk Once logged in (or if you are already logged in), click the 'My Account' button on the left hand menu and click the 'Change Password' link.
This has been known to happen occasionally with the Internet Explorer browser. There are two possibilities :
1. No Fear Bridge uses a 'cookie' for login. If you have the privacy options set to 'Block All Cookies' or 'High', this may be the problem. You can check your setting by going to 'Tools'/'Internet Options' and click the Privacy tab. If it's set to 'Block All Cookies' or 'High' you can change it to 'Medium High' or alternatively add www.nofearbridge.co.uk to the allowed sites.
2. It may be that the problem is with one of the temporary internet files or cookies. You can easily delete these so that it starts with a fresh version. In the browser, go to Tools and select 'Delete Browsing History'. Tick all of the options and click 'Delete'. Then close the Browser. Reopen Internet Explorer and try logging in again.
The most common reason for login failures is that your user name or password is typed incorrectly. Type them in carefully. Make sure CapsLock is not on.

No Fear Bridge is currently designed to run in a web browser using a desktop or laptop computer.
It is not specifically designed to work on smart phones although you may be able to access some of the activities, for example, the multi choice quizzes. However other activities like 'Hand of the Day' won't work because the cards will be too small to select.
The best thing is to take the two week free trial and see how much of No Fear Bridge will work on your device.
No Fear Bridge is designed to run in a web browser using a desktop or laptop computer.
Because of the very interactive nature of No Fear Bridge it does require a GOOD broadband connection. Most home broadband connections fall into this category.
No Fear Bridge may show signs of slowness from some mobile broadband connections or areas of the UK where the broadband service is not so good.
We recommend you take the two week free trial before signing up to check that the service is satisfactory from your connection.
